Chambers & Crops Demo Update 0.1


Aboveground Update

  • Breakable Objects (Trees, Ores, Berries, etc.) now have independent spawn caps, increasing overall spawn rates
  • Coal and Berry spawn rates are further increased to meet early-game stamina and smelting needs
  • Stone now spawns in Grassland to speed up early progression
  • Added animal encounters: 2 animals added in Grassland, 1 in Mountain
  • Added new fishing rewards

Dungeon Update

  • Added an introduction helper to Dungeon
  • Added 5 new weapons and a multi-weapon system exclusive to dungeons
  • Added 7 new enemies with new behaviors and projectile patterns
  • Added 4 new utility buffs (selectable at the end of a dungeon stage)
  • Added Healing Pot (heal to full health) and Research Table (dungeon weapon crafting) in Chamber 1-1
  • Added more weapons to treasure chests
  • Updated dungeon combat room structures with further improvements in higher stage rooms
  • Updated old enemy behaviors to include more projectile patterns
  • Increased enemy density in higher stages
  • Increased Soul drops
  • Rebalanced enemy stats
  • Rebalanced dungeon room difficulty
  • Improved Titan Guard boss behaviors
  • Adjusted buff selection at the end of each dungeon stage. Stat Buffs are removed, they will be exclusive to enemy drops or shop purchases to increase the number of Utility Buffs the player can receive.
  • Destructible Objects (barrels, bookshelves, etc.) now drop items
  • Shop Rooms now includes a reroll option for item choices

Save System Update

  • Added a manual save button under Options -> Gameplay (in Aboveground only)
  • Added a backup system that will automatically create a backup folder that saves up to 10 backups whenever the game exits or upon a manual save
  • To prevent any save file issues (in case it happens), it is recommended to backing up your progress. To create backups manually with an older version, you can do this by creating a copy of your save file located here: C:\Users\[YourName]\AppData\LocalLow\Chambers _ Crops\Chambers _ Crops\SaveFile
  • If a save file is corrupted or lost, you can choose to load up a backup save through the "Backups" button in the main menu
    • The backup will automatically override the current save file

Progression Update

  • Buildings, Tools, and Weapons will be unlockable via progression
    Note: most items are unlocked by default in the demo

Other Adjustment

  • Added coin cost to Nightmire & Emberite Tools
  • Increased (majority) item selling price
  • Reduced Mineral requirements for smelting Ingots
  • Reduced Stone Mineral required to craft Stone Tools
  • Reduced cooldown and increased invulnerability duration to player dodge (including Perfect Dodge)
  • Dodge now checks for potential damage instances instead of if the player has been damaged during the initial dodge grace period
  • Melee weapons now break projectiles by default
  • New visual effects added for Thresher Blades, Broadswords, and dungeon melee weapons

Steam Achievement

  • Added 14 basic Steam Achievements

Issue Fix

  • Fixed item loading errors in Aboveground when items are left on the ground
  • Fixed some items not being picked up when inventory slots were partially occupied
  • Fixed items continuing to move toward the player after death
  • Fixed Storage Chests incorrectly dropping stored items upon destruction
  • Fixed progression data failing to load when player data had errors
  • Fixed melee weapons sending incorrect damage source to enemies
  • Fixed Destructible Objects (barrels, bookshelves, etc.) being destroyed multiple times per instance, causing excessive debris
  • Fixed dungeon weapons not being removed correctly upon exiting the dungeon
  • Fixed player buffs not being removed upon exiting the dungeon in certain scenarios
  • Fixed Titan Guard boss being killable multiple times in one encounter
  • Fixed Titan Guard boss getting stuck when losing its target during retreat
  • Fixed Titan Guard boss being immune to damage or stuck in an invisible state when frozen
  • Balanced Titan Guard boss damage intake to match other enemies
  • Fixed errors when Titan Guard boss is knocked back when its target is lost
  • Fixed enemies becoming invisible when frozen
  • Fixed enemies often get stuck when moving near obstacles
  • Fixed enemies being pushed outside dungeon rooms and becoming stuck
  • Fixed UZI recoil animation stacking, causing the weapon to misalign

Future Update

The current progression in Aboveground feels limited and repetitive, once a few tools are unlocked, there's pretty much nothing else to do. To address this, progression in Aboveground is being expanded. Here’s a general overview of the plan:

Biome Overview

  • Grassland: Basic materials to kickstart progression
  • Village: Social hub with NPCs, shops, and quests
  • Forest: More advanced wood materials, enemies, and environmental hazards
  • Mountain: Entry point for advanced crafting and building, limited Ores (Coal, Iron, rare Gold), and as an entrance to the Cave
  • Desert: Unique desert materials (cactus, bones as examples) plus enemies, structures, and events
  • Cave: Accessible through Mountain after certain quests. Features advanced Ores, deep procedural levels, and heavier combat mechanics

Overall, Aboveground will offer a deeper sense of progression through exploration, crafting, and gradual unlocking of new areas. The Dungeon will retain the roguelite elements with its existing features.

Skill Update

Combat skills will remain limited with some small adjustments if necessary while the other three (Farming, Fishing, Mining) will see expanded options such as tool enhancements, new item unlocks, and additional mechanics.
